I had the gift of getting reunited with Greg about three years before he passed away thanks to classmate, Mark Rader.  Mark and Greg had stayed in contact and Mark came to Spokane, where I live, to see Greg; visit me and talk to us about joining him in an enterprise Mark believed in, sharing God's Word.  We all agreed to meet at a restaurant to listen to what Mark had to say.  When I got to the restaurant to meet with Mark and Greg, Mark told me Greg wasn't going to be able to come.  So Mark and I had dinner together and as we were nearly done with our meal, a person dressed as Spider Man appears at our table.  I instantly knew it was Greg because I recognized his hands....I know you are all saying, "How weird is that?"  Well the truth is that Greg was my boyfriend (as was Mark Rader) in the 8th grade and I memorized his hands.  When I told him that he was amazed...but I am quirky and remember those kind of things.  Mark, Greg and I went on to work on a project to customize a New Testament which contained testimonials from people from Spokane and a beautiful front cover.  I helped raise the financial support and then over 75,000 New Testaments were distributed to homes in the Greater Spokane Region.  Greg and his beautiful wife, Vernie, prayed all over the city for God's Word to take hold in the hearts of people in Spokane.  I attended Greg's memorial service a little over a year ago and it was in incredible testimony to the wonderful man of God, Greg became.  See you soon, brother!

After I retired in March of 2009, I heard Gregs cancer had come back.  So during his last summer I made three trips to Spokane to spend time with him.  We talked, laughed, climbed the little mountain behind his house.  He was so frail, but would climb that mountain every day.  He also liked to run down his driveway and back, and would get me to run with him.  He told me he taught himself how to play the piano.  That was one of my greatest enjoyments with him.  Watching him play with so much passion, singing praises to God.  A great friend, example of faith.  Miss you Greg.   Roger Small
