After graduating from UPS I was married to Gary Rodvelt for 4 years, much of it spent in Bamberg, Germany. I remained overseas where I met and married the love of my life and best friend. We just celebrated our 35th anniversary.
I spent my working career in education having taught every grade, preschool through 8th, elementary reading specialist, secondary reading specialist, middle school principal, adult education, and corporate childcare director.
After 23 years in the military, living in such places as Ft. Lewis, Ft. Sill, Fort Campbell, USMA West Point, Augsburg, Germany, Boston, and Sacramento my husband retired. We lived in Virginia for awhile, then Pennsylvania/New York. In 2005 we decided to give the West Coast a try. We moved to a private island off Everett, Hat (Gedney on the charts) Island, where we have been ever since. We remodeled the house for a year and then my husband became the Island Manager (police, sheriff, mayor, water main fixer, and anything else that comes up!). You’d think that only 40 full time residents wouldn’t be so demanding! He’s looking forward to retiring again later this year.
We spend our free time on our 38 foot sailboat, “Wildest Dream,” which doubles as our “house” on the “mainland” in Everett.
No human children, but a succession of “fuzzy children” through the years. Right now we have one 14 year old fuzzy daughter (a cat on a sailboat is hilarious!).
